Tall Ships At Ramsgate On April 19th the Tall Ships of the Heineken Race Of The Classics came to Ramsgate Royal Harbour, to the delight of the admiring crowds (though that possibly had as much to do with the splendid weather).
Strandby Broken Up Regrettably the Strandby, which for some years has been found in the Dry Dock outside the Ramsgate Maritime Museum, has now been broken up. The work took place on the 19th and 20th of March 2007 and, as yet, the Dry Dock’s future use remains unclear.
EKMT Searches For New Trustees The East Kent Maritime Trust is currently seeking new Trustees.
Stirling Castle DVD Available In response to popular demand the documentary “Diving Back Through Time”, as shown in the Gun Room at Ramsgate Maritime Museum, is now available for purchase in the museum shop, priced £7.99.
Removal Of The Stirling Castle Gun for Conservation
The 23rd of November saw the departure of the Prince Rupert Patent demi-cannon from Ramsgate to Portsmouth for the next stage of it’s conservation.
Christmas Closing The museums will be closed over the following holiday periods.
Ramsgate Maritime Museum Closed from Saturday the 23rd of December, re-opening on Friday the 5th of January.
Margate Museum Closed from Saturday the 16th of December, re-opening on Monday the 8th of January.
The staff of both museums and of the EKMT wish all of their patrons a Merry Christmas.
Winter Opening Hours Imminent At the end of September the museums will swap over to their “out of season” opening hours. For more details on opening times, see the individual museum pages by following the menu links in the top left of the page.
Margate Children’s Open Day The Margate Museum’s Open Day will be on Sunday 6th August and will feature free entry and competitions at the museum.
