Ramsgate Library Museum Fire
The loss through fire of Ramsgate Library Museum and Art Gallery in August 2004 conpp230a83b5.jpgtinues to be deeply felt in the area. Some objects saved from the fire are currently in conservation in Oxford and enquiries regarding these should be directed to the local studies officer for the Thanet area via Kent County Council Libraries. Meanwhile, would-be users of the Museum and Local Studies facility at the Ramsgate Museum, unable to find answers to their enquiries via other KCC libraries, can contact either of the East Kent Maritime Trust museums for advice and possible help in their researches. Ramsgate Maritime Museum holds a substantial local history collection - mainly nautical in origin of course. Margate Museum holds original copies of many of the Local Newspapers and information files on many local history topics - access to which has recently been made even better by an up-dated indexing system.
